Kindergarten Information

WELCOME to kindergarten! Classes throughout Corvallis will be providing your child a program rich in language and early literacy development, social experiences, math, science, physical development, and the arts.

March is "Kindergarten Month" when all families sign up at their neighborhood school.

A community-wide information meeting is set for Wednesday, March 2 for parents to learn more about how to enroll their kindergarten student in the Corvallis School District. The meeting will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and takes place in the Commons area of Linus Pauling Middle School, 1111 NW Cleveland Avenue.

We hope you’ll attend to learn more about the registration process, the “Gentle Start” kindergarten schedule in the fall, and how to help your child prepare to be successful in kindergarten.

Each school also offers an opportunity for families to meet kindergarten teachers and learn about their program:

Registration Process

Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1 to be eligible for kindergarten.

Parents may register their child for kindergarten as early as March 1 at their neighborhood school.  If you don’t know which school attendance area you live in, click here to see the district’s boundary maps.

Please have the following materials on hand when filling out the registration form available in your school office:  a copy of your child’s immunization records, contact and emergency information, and proof of your child’s birth date (birth certificate, hospital certificate or passport).

Transfer Requests

Families may request a transfer to a different school after they have registered at their neighborhood school. Online transfers will be accepted from March 7 to April 15—the forms are available here.  (Computers are available at the district office or the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library for families without Internet access at home.)

Transfer requests are subject, however, to grade-level enrollment and space limitations.  If you need assistance or have further questions, contact Jennifer Schroeder at 541-757-5874.
