Corvallis School district 509J

Student Services Department

What is SEAC?

Established in 1979, SEAC is the Corvallis School District's Special Education Advisory Committee.

Parents and community members serve on the committee.  The Corvallis School District Student Services Director and Special Education Coordinator serve as SEAC advisors.

The purpose of the Committee, as set forth in the by-laws, is

  • To act as a resource group to the Corvallis School District, providing suggestions for improvements in special education services,
  • To serve in a consultative capacity to aid in the development of programs that will enhance the education of all students, and
  • To enhance communication regarding special education issues among parents, site councils, school district administrators, directors, and staff and the community of Corvallis.

Among many other activities, SEAC provides parent training through workshops, newsletter articles, and meetings throughout the year.

SEAC meetings are open public meetings.  Anyone interested in special education issues is welcome to attend.

SEAC also welcomes new members who are interested in improving learning for all students.
